Best electric heaters

To choose the best electric heaters, the ideal requirements in which the best electric heaters must fulfil are to be able to generate heat well, is safe while in use, do not release any harmful substances that may be hazardous to human.

The types of electric heaters

With different electric heaters available in the market, choosing the best electric heaters require some patience and understanding on how each heater functions.

In short, electric heaters are categorized into three categories, the fan-forced convection type, the natural convection type and lastly the radiant type. Each of these works differently and the prices between each varies as well. The cheapest among all three would be the fan-forced convection electric heater. It costs about $15 USD and functions by using a small fan to transmit heat.

Although it warms the area in a relatively quick rate, the excessive absorption of the moisture from the fan-forced convection heater to lead to dryness of skin. Also, some fan-forced convection does not come with an overheat sensor. Hence, there is possibility of overheating of the heater if the fan fails to function properly. This can lead to the risks of fire hazards.

The natural convection heater type can be further categorized into baseboard units and electric radiators. As compared to the fan-forced type heaters, natural convection requires a longer time to warm up the room. However, it is safer than the fan-forced convection heaters as it does not rely on any moving parts to transmit the hot air, hence minimizing the risk of facing technical failure that can lead to fire accidents. The only thing you have to keep in mind is to avoid blocking the airflow around the heater, especially the areas above it as the warm air rises to the top.

The radiant heater works entirely in a different concept than the two types of heaters as previously mentioned. It functions by using a visible coil or quartz tube that glows in orange to red while using. It heats up a certain location, besides air, it also heats up humans and objects that are near it. In summary, the radiant heater and the natural convection heater are the better choices to be considered as best electric heaters as it brings minimal fire risk.

The Efficiency of the Heaters

The other feature that has to be determined for best electric heaters is the efficiency of the heater to transmit heat. To choose this, there are a few factors that you have to consider first. First to be considered is the insulation level of the room. Then you also have to consider the height of the ceiling and if the heater function solely on its own or if it is a supplementary heater. The guidance that you can follow while determining this is to measure the size of your room. Each square foot requires about 10 watts of power. If you are unsure of which to choose, do not hesitate to seek help from the professionals as they know what may suits you  best.
